Paul Anastas, one of the fathers of green chemistry, is leaving his high-ranking post at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and returning to Yale. In a Q&A with Environmental Health News, Anastas said "it's time for me to go home." As science advisor and assistant administrator at EPA's Office of Research and Development, his goal was to shift EPA toward policies that would promote green chemistry, the movement to make chemicals and manufacturing systems more environmentally friendly. Anastas said there has been a "growing realization across EPA" that green chemistry "can meet environmental and economic goals simultaneously."

70 Billions Lost In Bad Mining Contracts, Tanzania Suffers
The local residents from the area however dispute this and attribute
the toxic spill to sheer 'negligence' on the part of the Gold Mining
Company and government's failure to put large scale Mining Companies
under close scrutiny. The Mining Contracts signed under dubious
circumstances, involving corrupt government officials, contain claw
back provisions that have tacitly compelled the Government to keep a
'hands off' stance from the Mining Companies and thus allowed them to
reap the mining resources with minimal interference and less regard
for the economic and environmental impacts accruing from mining
activities in the Country.

People Power! Mining Protests Spread To Argentina
“There is no social licence for any mega mining project in Famatina and La Rioja,” Carina Díaz Moreno, a spokeswoman for one of the protest groups that has been campaigning against mining since the days of Barrick, told beyondbrics. “No matter how many contracts (La Rioja provincial governor Luis) Beder Herrera signs, people won’t give him social licence,” she said. “We will be keeping the blocade until Beder Herrera gives in.”

The Grand Canyon: Not For Sale
Adding insult to injury, one of the largest uranium mines that Republicans want to open is owned in part by Russia's nuclear energy organization. That means the successor to the agency that presided over the Chernobyl disaster would be allowed to mine for uranium near one of America's most beloved national treasures.

Small-Scale Miners In Pantukan Ask, Why Blame Us?
Whereas, large-scale and medium-scale mining create huge tunnels and detonate 40 dynamites at the same time. Those can shake the mountain.)
Danilo added the government and miners have been mum of this fact because of threats in their lives,“Mao na ang kamatuoran, ug daghan pa gyud dapat inspeksyunon sa pamaagi aning mga dagkong kompanya. Pero dili man mosaba maski kinsa kay ipapatay man dayon.” (That’s the truth. There are many things to inspect in the methods of these big companies. But no one dares to speak or they will be killed.)
Gold Mining: A Pristine Boise River Is Not For Sale
Atlanta Gold had argued that it no longer owned the old mining tunnel that fed contaminated water into the creek — trying to make the case that it was voluntarily cleaning up pollution that wasn’t its responsibility. Not exactly. In 2011, Atlanta Gold allowed its claim to the contaminated tunnel to expire — a convenient dodge, considering that the company had simultaneously exercised options on 33 other claims in the area.
